The release of FIFA 12 has been bigger than ever expected, with it becoming the third largest launch ever in the UK multiformat chart. It is behind only Call of Duty Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2 and has managed to eclipse Grand Theft Auto IV. This new release has impressively sold 18 per cent more units than the previous release of FIFA 11, proving that there has been a significant rise in the popularity of the game.
Fans of FIFA have clearly come out in force to get their hands on the latest edition of the footballing video game. While some people are really interested in playing first person shooter video games or online card games like party poker, those who are into sports video games have understandably been very excited about this new release.
Sales of the Xbox 360 version of FIFA 12 went up by 27 per cent compared with the last release of FIFA 11. It was, as usual, the biggest seller, coining in 54 per cent of the total sales of this game. The Playstation 3 sold 44 per cent which is a rise of 11 per cent from FIFA 11, while other formats only gained 2 per cent. The Wii version however, came in on the individual format chart at number nine.
Many other titles came to the conclusion that it would be silly to release their own titles at the same time. However, the Classics HD bundle of Ico & Shadow Of The Colossus actually gained an advantage by releasing theirs at this time. They reached number seven in the multiformat chart, and an impressive number eight in the individual format. After this surprising success, they have been named one of the most successful Classics HD games so far. Although, at the moment nothing seems hotter than FIFA 12.
